View Full Version : fliud fild texture coordinates
el diablo 06-21-2005, 05:25 AM could a fluid field be used to hold 3d texture coordinates for textures.....
what I mean from a practical sense is....have a poly mesh, subD, or nurbsSurfaces with texures applied...bake this into a fluid...then reapply this to any object and bake or animate through this field.......

whoa, cool question. It's allways possible:-)
But for this particular effect I think You'll end up with a DENSE 3d grid and better off with trying another setup.
Maby by emitting A LOT of particles from the surface, coloring them by using the surface color. Then write a opacity expression for the particles making them visible only when colliding or approaching a given surface. Then you're left with a expression and a rendering problem for the particles but if you wan't to continue doing this I'll be glad to help.
