View Full Version : Little Boy Peter.. Animated Short!! Look
hey all, well this is my second real thread I have put onto CG Channel. I currently am in the CG PA Challenge under the name Shaun, my work is coming along but have been busy with school and freelance, as far as my 3d, I currently am working on a skit of my own, of the character below. He is for a Blenshape assignment, but I have bigger plans for him for my final, as far as he will have a younger bug eyed baby brother that looks up to Peter. The story will be posted shortly onto my website, but as the animation when completed, I will need to find a host to hold it for my page im at now doesnt hold enough. Please, any feedback etc. on the character or the story will be greatly appreciated... For that is the reason for me posting it... Looking forward to your comments......

Cool work ! I like the space between the two front-theet ;) Nothing to crit on this image: Headshape is stylized and great - Textures are very fine - some emotions would be really funny to see !!! Why not working in them . . . NOW (just kidding ;)
Show us some more of him . . .
Hey, I will be posting the blendshapes etc. in a bit, im actually writing this during class, I have about 4 expressions now, but plan on having a ton more for blendshape and set driven key are my thing... check back for updates... thanks for the comment..
be patient dambit!! :D
I dont know if any of you work with MAYA, but its all basically the same, I am having trouble with the final textures meaning adding specularity and bump and how to plug them in so I have it in the model...... for added realism. I already created them in photoshop, was wondering if any of you have a model etc. where I can see where you plug everything in the hypershade. MAYA that is, also being able to convert to file texture so the texture moves with the geometry rather then making a texture reference object. If anyone can understand what I am getting at and can help, or give me a tutorial to do, it would be greatly appreciated.....
Hey, just the latest updates as for expressions, im still wondering if I should keep the teeth or not, I will finish the body but wondering the type of clothing he should wear, we'll see... Any commentsd or suggestions is always appreciated.....

Keep the teeth! They're great. After seeing a closeup of the eye, though, I think it could benefit from a little more texturing. I would suggest making the iris and pupil more defined, and possibly add some color to that blank, white space. A few (subtle) veins near the edges might help. But he looks purty durn good.

Nice impressions ! And Gilgamesh is right: the pupils could need a lil more work - and i am also agree with teeth: they give ya character a nice touch...
About clothes !? I think he could wear some wide pants (are they called baggy-pants ?) a shirt and some sporty boots. I would suggest to sketch some cloth-combinations to get a feel for it.
Itīs always great to see some updates here :D I think you deserve some stars...
Oh, here is an iris you might find usefull - or simply make a hi-res version by yourself.
Hey thanks guys for the crits, thats why I put my stuff up here, I will work on the eyes a little more and you guys can tell me what you think, as far as the teeth, I guess Ill keep them, I will add a tongue and some gums to go along with them shortly so they are not just there, but who knows I may not need the gums for I can go for more of a cartoonish realish approach, I dont know, as far as some sketches, i place them up ASAP.. for clothing etc... I have this great idea for his little brother, keep in contact for updates. I wish there was a place I could place a short animation of his facial expression for my website is starting to get limited in space, any suggests? well thanks, now back to work....
hey here is the eye posting along with the bump etc. I know I need to do a little fine tunning but Ill do that last once I start on the body, I give you guys some sketches on the next update...

"""!!! Hey guys, well I guess the once free site the3d.ws is out of business or something for it stopped posting all my pictures so I had to reload them onto my own server, ironic thing is the new eye pic that was here disapeared forever for my backup had a virus from my school so it had to be deleted, and then the server holding the second pic disapeared so, as soon as I have time, I will re render it and place it up, sory about that.........
welcome to your comments or suggestions......

Wow these new eyes are much better ! There is only one point for me to crit: the textures seems to be a bit too small ! I donīt know how close the cam gets in the final movie, but they are too blurry... BTW: For my first character (WIP actually) i used a face-texture of a 4500 x 1400 pixels !! Same size for spec and half size for bump !
Oh, i said only one point, but at looking at the eyes again i missed something... how about some tear-thingies (donīt know the name) ! Look at my latest update and you will know ;)
Maybe you find also something to crit or comment !
Here is the direct link ! (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2333)
ya, needs 'tear thingies' the little fleshy part on either side of the eye.
Definately looks cool.
hey guys, thanks for your suggestions, I will be working on the tear things in a bit, I finished the render of the guy already for a class assignment, meaning he is fully animated, I had him singing along with a Janet Jackson song, it came out pretty good based on I did the animation the night before, and rendering. I wont post the animation until I get the rest of his body and little details worked out, also if you have any suggestions on a good quality render so I can place it on the web so you guys can see, it would be appreciated, also web space as well. Well, I will post another update here soon, so check back here shortly.......
