With much thanks to mdme_sadie and Flingster, I found the tutorial and got Soft IK working. I even have "old" IK working.

I have an interesting job on which requires me to animate a creature with a translucent skin.

So, I need to animate both the 'innards', and the outer skin. This should be a simple hierachy thing BUT, It also has eyes and a beating heart attached to the innards.

My problem is that the bone influences squish the eyes and heart and if I take them out of the heirachy, they don't move with the bones - aargh!

I have made a small pic to illustrate (don't laugh)

Hi,
if you are using R8 this is very simple with XPresso. Here: www.bonkers.de (http://www.bonkers.de)
you will find an example how to attach an object to a deformed mesh.
In R7 you will need a C.O.F.F.E.E. expression that will do this. I'm not sure if Stick2Poly (from Donovan Keith available at the plugincafe) will work on the deformed mesh.
Animating the beating heart or pumping lungs is also very easy with Xpresso.

Hope this helps

Or if you want them to move with the bones. Make a NullObject a child of one of the bones, place it where you want the heart or eyes to be with there axis.
Next give the NullObject an Xpresso tag, drag the NullObject and the heart or eyes into the Xpresso editor and make a global matrix connection from the Null to the heart or eyes.

Fantastic, you both helped a lot!

I will post some examples of animation soon. (unfortunately) some of it is under the usual NDA stuff.
