View Full Version : Tree shadows casting with block around them?

hello all,

Having a problem with the shadows that some trees of mine in a scene are casting:

Light is a direct light, raytracing, shadows on. All materials are blinns (though there is no change when i change it to lambert), the renderer is Maya Software on production quality with raytracing enabled. Specularity is all the way down on materials.
I even tried upping the alpha gain/etc to 2 and -1 on teh alpha map, but to no avail.

Any help appreciated :wavey:

by the way, the block on the far right is a lambert with default texture on casting a shadow. Just to clarify of course...

--- found the solution ---

for any of you who might care/have this problem there is one way to fix it:

change shadow attenuation under the raytracing options of each shader to 0 (default is 0.500)
