View Full Version : closing NURBS surfaces?
hi,
The school I go to sucks and is very slow to teach things. It's a small private college in Phoenix.
I'm creating this simple NURBS surface and I don't know how to close it! Please help? I'm sure I have to do something with the end isoparm, but I don't know what. Thanks

select isoparm 1 and shift + select isoparsm 2 ( the one you wanna close your surface with )
edit Nurbs >> open/close surfaces
no that didn't work... I think you didn't understand exactly what I meant.
I basically created a cylinder-like shape and want to cap it on both ends. so the question is basically this: how would I cap a cylinder manually? if I know how to do that, I can figure out how to close my surface
Thanks

Have you looked in the online docs yet?
ok make planar works. hehe =) Although I still need to figure out how to add points to the surface so that it doesn't stay so flat. I'll just try to figure this one out.
as for the online docs, no I haven't looked at them.
Thanks for the help

take all the points on the last isoparm and scale them to zero. Than add as many isoparms as you need to make the transition nice. This is how the top and bottom of nurbs spheres are closed.

nurbs is hard! hehehe. either that or I need some better training.
thanks for your help guys
Yeah Nurbs are a pain in the ass. I avoid them whenever and however possible. They are still something you should know though.
