disabling lock selection?

I don't entirely understand your question... in modo when you lock geometry you simply select some geometry, and hit lock, select more geometry and lock it as well, then hit unlock to unlock it...

well the thing is in maya when after a you have moved a group of vertices you can go ahead select something else to move while still in the move tool. In modo, if you try to select something while in the move tool, you will just move what you have initially selected unless you switch out of the move tool and select something else. Its not a big deal but its nice to know how to chnage it

Ahh... well there are a couple of tricks you can do to quickly move through geometry...

Temporary tool activation... If you hold down the hotkey of a tool it will only be active until you release the key, so if you select some geometry and hold down the W key you can move it until you release the W key then you can switch selections.... This saves you a little time

Element Falloff... With element falloff activated you can get a soft selection of whatever's under the mouse whenever you click down, (right click and drag to set the distance), and it will work with whatever tool you select... like rotate for instance...
