Hi,

You can move brush libraries to whatever storage media you're going to use to transfer your custom brushes. I'm told by Corel that the Brushes folders and files are the same on both Mac and PC so that part shouldn't be a problem.

1. First you'll need to know where Painter IX stores custom files and folders, and custom settings and preferences, since Painter IX application/program folders are read only.

Read the following:

Painter IX Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > A Workspace Tour

On the right panel, click Brush Libraries.

On the next page, scroll down to the section named "Restoring the Default Corel Painter settings".

That section gives you the paths to the Painter IX User folders for Mac and Windows.

2. Then you'll need to create a custom brush library, so go to your User folder and in the Corel > Painter IX > Brushes folder, create a new custom brush library folder, and give it a unique and descriptive name. This empty folder will be used to contain custom brush categories you'll make in the following step.

3. If you want to transfer only special brush variants organized in special brush categories to your other system, you'll need to launch Painter IX, create those brush categories and their associated .JPG icon image files, and copy the special brush variants into the appropriate brush categories.

• To learn how to create a brush category and its associated .JPG brush category icon image file, read the following:

Painter IX Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Customizing Brushes

On the right panel, click the link named "Managing Custom Brushes".

On the next page, scroll down and read the section named "Creating a New Brush Category".

• To learn how to copy your special brush variants into your new brush categories, on the same page, scroll up to the section named "Copying Variants Between Brush Categories".

4. Close Painter IX and to go your User folder, to Corel > Painter IX > Brushes, find your custom brush categories and their associated .JPG brush category icon image files, and copy them to your new custom brush library (the folder you created in Step 2).

5. Then copy your custom brush library to whatever storage media you'll use to transfer them to your other system.

On your other system:

1. Copy your custom brush library from the storage media you're using to transfer it to your other system.

2. On the other system hard drive, go to your User folder, and copy your custom brush library into the Corel > Painter IX > Brushes folder.

3. Launch Painter IX, go to the Brush Selector menu, and click Load Library. The Brush Libraries dialog box opens.

4. Highlight the name of your custom brush library and click the Load button.

Good luck!
