Hello everybody.

This is my first post here, a short film a friend (Przemek Sargeant) and I have recently done.

It has been selected for a few festivals here in Spain, like Art Futura and Animadrid.

It lasted us to finish almost 4 months and I still think that it could have been much much better, but we wanted to finish it before the season of festivals begun here.

The short is a little bit heavy (35 mg , only 2 minutes of short), but we are working on that and in a few days we´ll rebuild TheWetPet´s site, with a smaller version and some comments about its production.

Here is the link:

http://www.xasz.net/wetpet2.htm

Hope you enjoy it.

Hi,

I can't get to the site, it gives me a error 113 no route to host connection failed? any ideas?

I'd love to see the short, is it hosted anywhere else?

thanx

nemesis,

You and your friend have done an amazing animation. I really like it! It is worthy of it's place on the front page of CGTalk, and I thank the admins for putting it there.

I would let everyone know that I got a 34Mb downlad on this.
But be patient, it's worth the wait.

Very nice stuff!!!

Downloading as I type this, only at 47k/sec. So im waiting impatiently to have a look, the character, his pose and the object he was holding on the cgtalk front page got me interested straight away :D
Got it.. hahahahhaa very funny, reminds me of a warner brothers cartoon, like Loony Toons. :)
It's good to see some animation like this! :)

really nice animation. Very funny! Reminded me of the old sylvestore and tweety cartoons on my youth. Good job. I'm not sure what is going on at the end with the magazine and the book, but nice none-the-less.

 :bounce: :buttrock: ,etc.

Great film with a classic WB feel to it. I like it a lot ... but someone's going to have to provide a translation for the book title. "La Caza De Ballenas: Para Principiantes". I'm sure he's going to go fishing for whales, or something like that. But it would probably be even funnier if I knew what the book was.

(Yeah, I'm too lazy to look up a translation myself :D )

really cool! (i have no problems with big movies, even if it was 100mb it would be worth it)

Great characters, funny story, nice animations, perfect sound and music

I agree with Kirt on the bookthing (and the endscene was pretty fast, i suggest to make it a bit longer)

That was great! So funny. Their relationship is similar to the Road Runner and Wiley Coyote. Poor cat just couldn't get a break until the end. The audio went along nicely with the animation. I'd love to see more of these two. Are there any plans of more?

"La Caza De Ballenas: Para Principiantes".

Ahhh.. Whale Hunting For Beginners! Makes much more sense now. Heheh and it's funnier too. Why settle for a guppy when you can catch a whale?

The cat is sweet. the animation is like the "rat" in Ice Age. Can someone translate what is written on the book @ the end ?

Wow, look at those 5 stars, lot of thanks to everyone!!!

First of all, we noticed it was pretty hard to download 34 mgs, so we have made a Qtime version, "only" 16 mgs now. You can still download (right click and save as), but it requires QuickTime 6.

We also made some changes to the site, still working on it.

It has been a hard work, and all those kind words are very appreciated.

Time for answers:

We used Maya to model an animate. The backgrounds are photos, and the effects (caustics, reflections, DOF...) are postpro. We wanted to concentrate on the animation, so we did the rest of the proccess the fastest we could.

Yeah, now that I watch it again I would change a lot of things, but we had the deadline coming fast, and again, animating was the most important thing.

It is very inspired in Wiley Coyote and Ice Age ( love Scrat ). We made some kind of a personal tribute to 50´s Warner animators.

About doing something more with those two characters...Not for the moment, now we want to try some different things for the next short and are a little bit tired of Socrates and Fishi, but who knows...

Oh, and sorry for the translation of the book.

Salud!

Thanks again for the compliments, very appreciated!

Very cool short!! I really enjoy this type of animation. I think we don't see enough of it in 3D animation.

As someone who worked on "Ice Age", I appreciate the plug. You guys have in turn inspired me!!

Keep up the great shorts. I'd like to see more of these characters!! Now that the modeling, rigging, materials, etc are done, you can really focus on the animation and story (which was already at a high level). Keep it up!!
