My client are currently looking to hire a talented 3d Character Artist to take up the role of Head Character Modeller on their forthcoming PS2 game.

Over a year of pre production has been invested developing the style and look to the characters for their game. We are looking for a character artist that can faithfully and sensibly re-create these concepts in 3D within the constraints of their engine. They are looking for the ability to create expression, blend shapes for these characters working with the senior animator and also the ability to texture the character models to match the concepts. Rigging is not essential for the role but a definite plus. All submitted models must be within a sensible polygon limit. Submitted models that have polygon counts in the tens of thousands or above are not considered for the position. Low to medium polygon models only, please. Candidates should be well versed in Maya so that you can hit the ground running. You should be confident working in a highly stylised cartoon style and have held a similar position within the games industry previously.

Location: Scotland (nr Edinburgh)
Salary: to £30k
Start date: asap
Job type: full time and inhouse (unfortunately this role is NOT suitable for freelancers/outsourcers)

If you would like to be considered for this role please email a copy of your uptodate CV/Resume to emma@opmjobs.com Demo work ABSOLUTELY MUST be supplied upon submission - please ensure this comes through in zipped jpeg format (no larger than 4mb). The style of the game in development is very specific - its a very quirky cartoon style game - whilst it would be great to see some such examples in your demo work - the key thing here is your skill as a character modeller.
