It has a lot of potential... the thing that makes it look amateur, though, is the constant width on all the lines. Check out some nice line art (like a good clip art collection or even the startup screen to illustrator... :) and you'll see a huge variation in line width, with broad strokes emphasizing the important features of the design. Since you're using illustrator, try to think of the lines themselves as filled shapes... it will add a sense of depth and style to your line art.
