View Full Version : Still Life: Breakfast table image
flewp 10-18-2002, 08:54 AM Well, not much to say. I stopped working on this scene awhile ago, and it's as far as I think I'll take it.
What do you all think?

Very nice clean, clear and realistic image. Well set and lit. The only thing that distracted me was the leaves on the plants, these definatly need more work.
Very nice image! :D

Very nice render and lighting.
Maybe just me, but the scale of everything seems weird to me.
The break in the wall and the wallpaper is usually around waist level. And if so, it seems that the table and stools are especially low, so is the hanging plant.

I am afraid that I am with WarpedMinds about the tilting stool. It does distract me slightly... but apart from that... excellect work. I like the lighting!

You have a really nice render, but I think you should work on it a little bit more.
When it comes to the compostion and the positioning of your objects it is pretty nice. There is a lot of linear motion in the pic. But fortunately it is broken up by the tilted stool.
Now for the CC:
The floor is too shiny, for starters, it looks like everything is hovering above the surface of the floor.
Also the white points are way too high. You need to vary the lighting color a little to keep it from looking so antiseptic. There is just too much white of the same shade here, its kind of distracting.
With the colored lighting, you will need colored shadows as well. Raytracing does this but you still might need to add some very small faint colored lights in the opposite color spectrum.

Composition is off center ,also,,,, the shadow on the floor caused by the square table top is to harsh,, it shouldnt be there at all with this diffused lighting. If the light source is above the viewer then the shadows from the table top would be accounted for on the wall ( and those look right!!!) so I wonder what light source would cast the shadows on the floor?
But then again Im picky :)

Well,
That image looks vaguely familular. Nice lighting and texturing of the scene.

nice ! really nice! to improve it, i would suggest that u make the shadows not so dark and hang the pictures higher .... the rest are really good....

one more thing, the leaves don't have the creases it should have, now it's just flat green colour and the plant could go higher as well

A very nice image I think!
I do agree about the height of the pictures and the leaves, but other than that, it's great, well done!:D
