Hi everyone, I'm posting to see if anyone has experienced the following odd problem with the new Photoshop CS2:

Basically what's happening is when basic Photoshop actions are carried out, but especially when I close a file/window inside Photoshop, a system process called csrss.exe uses all available CPU time and Photoshop becomes unresponsive, menus and buttons freeze and then it returns to normal after 10-20 seconds. This happens every time! I've tried un/re-install and reactivation. No luck. Its impossible to work like this!

My machine should be up to the task, its an AMD 3200+ with 1GB Ram and 128MB nVidia GForce4 Graphics.

Anyone who's been experiencing similar problems or knowing a possible solution to this would be much appreciated :)

Thanks guys!

csrss.exe has nothing to do directly with Photoshop CS2, it's installed on all Windows systems (2000/XP anyway).

There have been lots of reports of slow performance of CS2, but yours seems a bit over the top... you might want to contact Adobe directly!

its a windows component that handles graphical components.

if it spikes to 100% CPU usage, run a virus scan at some place like "http://housecall.antovirus.com" (a very good scanner and free).

csrss.exe is a popular worm hideout file.

I believe the reason CS 2 is slow is directly related their new Bridge tool. CSRSS.exe is Windows Security SubSystem, i think doesn't like how Bridge regularly is touching file it may have security is with. The best way to resolve this is too place all your images into a folder where the security is set to everyone.

csrss.exe is a windows component..however check your task manager and make sure you dont have two in there. In particular one that is in capitals..ie: CSRSS.EXE as that is spyware

Where does that information come from? I've got a lot of task manager processes in capitals including CSRSS.EXE, should I worry?
