View Full Version : Premiere: problem slowing down a clip
CharleyBoy 06-15-2005, 02:41 AM Hi!!
In Adobe Premiere.
when I set the speed of a clip to 75% (for exemple) to slow it down, and then render it... the movie is very crappy.... Is there any filter to fix that, or any suggestion to make it clean!!
thanX!!!

slowing down dv generally does look like crap. depending on what you're doing and how the footage looks, you may want to turn off frame blending. Sometimes that helps. Sometimes that makes it even worse. If all else fails, you may need to use some external time warper with better methods.

And there is no filter that can blend the duplicate frame with the next one ???..... I dont want to do it manually, it's a too long shot.

Premiere does this by default, but not very well. The option is called frame blending and can be found under the speed/duration settings or whatever it's called when yuo right click on the clip in the timeline. When it's on (default) Premiere blends frames. When it's off it just repeats them. Unfortunately, I find that Premiere's frame blending looks terrible in all but a few instances. Using standard DV footage filmed on an ok camera, frame blending seems to work alright. But anything else looks awful in my experience, especially very crisp animated footage. The effect of frame blending in that instance just seems to be to make everything blurry. :(

take a look at Realviz Retimer

I've used it to slow down some DV footage of Battlebots destroying stuff and its pretty amazing.
