Is it possible to create realistic fire in combustion.......or should i seek guidence in a 3d program that has volumetrics??

Depends on what you consider realistic... and of course on the given case....

I'd say that something like Maya Fluids will always look more realistic than 2d Particles, though often not realistic enough...
