Ok, so there aren't exactly 300 Spartans. Anyways! I realize this isn't really a typical example of Spartan military, but I thought it would be interesting to figure out how they might look if they were zombie Spartans. I also wanted to play around more with the glowing eyes and mouth thing that I tried with The Beast of Yucca Flats.

PSCS, Wacom, around 45 mins.

Dargon brings up a point- The rules say that the daily sketch can be done on any medium, but does that include 3d programs? I've often wanted to use blender on a sketch so that I could get the perspective right. I dunno.

Great sketches so far :)

well it's a 2D wip subforum but I can't see using 3D here doing much harm.

It would be fun to see what kind of stuff people could spin up with a
3D prog in say .5 to 3 hours

Here's a impartial referee to make sure that everyone has 300.

About 40 minutes using Gimp for the drawing and Inkscape for the lettering. I think that I am letting my kids watch a little to much television when I'm around.

By the way, Telemaco, KDW, splinepusher, and especially danielh68 made my jaw hit the floor. Good work guys.

Some excellent work in here, well done everyone.

I saw the topic last night so I went googling for a rough idea of costumes etc and ended up spending the rest of the night reading ancient history websites instead of actually drawing..

about 2 hours; Wacom + Microsoft Acrylic, GIMP for some post-processing

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/gauntman/sketch/sketch374.png

To get all 300 spartans, print this out several times!

redfrog - strong poses, reads well
Amadeous001 - very dramatic charge!
MatiasJ - agressive and difficult angle. It looks like there could be 300 in there.
Telemaco - incredible detail work; perhaps not a true historical reading... but when it looks that great, who cares? Amazing!
KDW - I liked the different interpretation on this
Splinepusher - good use of color on the bronze to give a feel for beaten metal; Not easy
FiYoG - different mood in this one; It looks like it would make an excellent book cover or movie poster; Fading effect is well done.

Finally i could skenn my sketch so heres the finished idea:

|10 min pencil on paper| (I was travelling a lot at the weekend, so i had time to sketch)
|1 hour Photoshop|

The story of Leonidas and the 300 Spartans at the Thermopylae is just plain AMAZING.
The idea that a Army of 300 could fend off a force in the MILLIONS for three days is amazing.
