View Full Version : Quick "Array along a path" question
Newstream 06-13-2005, 10:43 PM Hi Guys,
Got a question about arraying along splines.
In this example, the posts of a perimeter fence are arrayed along a spline but half of them end up upside down. Any ideas why this happens?
(Its a pain to have to manually go in and correct the rotation of each post )
As usual, any tips appreciated :)
Kind regards / Alex

Make sure that the Keep Parallel option in the Arrange menu is checked.

A little amendment. :hmm:
I tried this with different flavours of path types and the parallel option 'fixes' the flip overs with a Cubic spline, but this will make the picket fence a bit wonky.
Use a B-spline. Bezier or Linear instead to get the proper alignment and orientation.
This nearly drove me nuts so I'm off for a coffee. :argh:
Cheers, Al.

Gosh, thanks Al !
To be honest this has also been driving me nuts which is why I posted this as a last resort.
I'll fire up the old machine and try again.
Thanks again!

No problem, Alex. (Ha!)
The first quickie I tried, the posts went all over the place. When I tried it again I couldn't repeat the effect. It took a bit of twiddling until I realised that I had used a different spline.
Anyway, sorting out problems is a good way to learn.
Cheers, Al.

If you have Jenna, you could use it to align and array to a spline.
