Okay folks, I'm on a HL2 mod right now as an animator and I've run into a bit of a snag with the rigging process.

We're using the ValveSource plugin for XSI and I need to use Valve's rig (ValveSource > Characters > Create Rig from Guide). No problem, except that the rig doesn't exactly fit our model, and as far as I know there is no way to resize the bone length in valve's rig.

So to fix this issue, I went to ValveSource > Characters > Biped Guide. I resized, moved and and adjusted this rig to fit the model perfectly, and then created the aforementioned Create Rig from Guide. The valve rig resized itself and fit perfectly over the Biped Guide, but now I can't get rid of the Biped Guide.

Sure, I could move it out of the way in my scene and hide it, but there's got to be some way of actually deleting this Biped Guide. Whenever I try to do this, half of the bones are still left floating around in the air.

Hello there Nicodemis.

Strang is right, at least that is what I have been doing with no problems.
If you have dificulties to select the guide, just go to the explorer (8) and then selcet de guide model with your middle mouse button, that would brach select it, and then just press delete.

I am getting involved with the valve engine Source and XSI, so it would be nice if we can share experiences and tips.

Regards.

Richard.

Worked like a charm fellas, thanks a lot.

Richard, I'll be more than happy to share any tips and tricks I learn along the way, although I'm sure it'll be very basic at first and mostly learned from tuts. :)
