I'm kinda working on two swords at the same time. First is a Kantana and the second a barbarian type sword. Not sure which will be my final submission.

Hi Tugmaster!

The swords are looking great.

I was wondering if some of the details like the seal on the blade where just curves projected onto the blade surface or are all the decorative details actually modelled with some dimension to them? Its hard to tell. Either way, though, good work.

both are truly superb models......Your gonna have to write us up a tutorial on how you create these blades! LOL
as for the Katana...thats looking superb.....your eye for detail in your models is striking.....however i would note you have missed both the mekugi hole and also the menuki ornaments for the grip......

hehehe just being piccy because i couldnt produce what you have! ;)

youve done a great job so far, can u smack the render button. Dont bother spending anytime on lighting or whatever but i think it would explain alot more about the details - which are fantastic:thumbsup:

Thanks guys! 7Stones, the engravings on the blade and on the metalwork on the hilt are all modeled. I'm a boolen modeler which makes for some hefty size models. The blade itself was made by drawing the shape then the profile and then using a two rail sweep. The hilt and the the section with engraving were made seperately and then boolened together. Kinisute, I know about the ornament but what is a mekugi hole? tilite, I'll put it all together and post a render shortly.
