View Full Version : Maya 4.5 licensing
Hookflash 10-17-2002, 08:49 PM How does Maya 4.5 licensing work? Is it permanent, or is it subscription based? For example, if I purchase Maya 4.5 Complete for $1999, will that license last "forever", or will I have to renew it every year/release/etc.? Thanks

It depends on what kind of license you get. I think they are all time limited none of them last forever, and I think if you read the EULA you'll find a spot where A|W resreves the right not to renew your license. But, if it's a commercial license I think you can keep renewing it. I think the student licenses are for 12 months. Either way, every time you upgrade you have to get a new license.

If you pay retail then the license is good for the life of that version of Maya.
If you're a student, you can get the software at a discount but the license has to be renewed annually and it's free as long as you haven't graduated yet.

It better last forever.......
If I bought a license of maya .
And I get an encryption to run the software on a specific mac address...Then the only way they can revoke my current scenario
would be by upgrading to a higher version that causes me to get a new encryption....
But then how does the student version run......
does it have a trial limit....

The student version still costs you. I love AW, but I think that they are being a little unreasonable on the students. But maya PLE is a really good tool for learning.
