View Full Version : WIP Rhino Comp 1 - Kiri
kirisute 06-13-2005, 09:02 AM well here are a couple of rough ideas ive been playing with for this lil piece of fun....
not sure which one to tweak to final design yet.....
as this will be my first time rendering exclusively in Rhino it is gonna be a good learning experience for me as well!

complicated LOFTING for this one....but i think the final results might well be worth the trouble....
and....

damn, that first blade is nasty! - in a good way :). I would be to scared to pick it up incase i stabed myself with one of its 400 edges :hmm:
i like your axe better though, its still got the intricate blade design but alot more to play with along the handle. It looks rather fragile, kind of a elvish touch. Is that the kind of blade you wanted? something delicate that takes an amense skill level to wield?
even though you where probably never thinking about anything like this, i like it:thumbsup: lol

LOL...your right...it never crossed my mind...i just think it looks cool! LOL
there is alot i could do to it....to be honest if this was going into Poser i would probably halt the build here and work the rest of the detail in with BUMP maps.....but im not sure how well Rhino works with BUMP mapping....

Rhino... bumps... well i gave up on that a loooong time ago, just before i gave up on textures in rhino :hmm: lol
i just want to add that when it comes to voting (although most will vote by aesthetics alone) people should really be thinking about the design and technical skills not just how good it looks. So with something like this, where it seems to be a fantasy hybrid you might want to get some pics of artists work or post a few images of the elven thing if you have nothing against it. Just to give the piece some structure.

s'good plan....ill hunt out where i got the inspiration from and post them here! its always good to have an insight into how people work and produce their stuff!
after all we are here to help each other along the same path!

well....
decided i would stretch my modelling skills and try for something a bit harder than the usual types of blades you see above....
therefore here are the first stages of the new blade!

as you can see...its gonna be harder! ;)

as from this point onwards i am officailly evicting you from the competition under the grounds of being to good! lol
But it is a very creative start, im loving it. Slight crit would be on the actually grip.Atm im viewing this as an antique lamp on its side :hmm: Purely from the form of the grip, i just cant see that element tieing in with the overall design.
In your reference image there seems to be a network of 'pipes' forming a delicate gaurd (poor explination i hope you understand what im talking about). I really like the way tuck up to the 'leaf' shaped gaurd, i think exploring how a similar thing can tie your weapons guards together would be great.
be definetly a fantastic start:thumbsup:

got a few tweaks to deal with as of yet......you will notice its not an exact dupliacte of the guide photo! Simply because i like my stuff to be original somewhere along the way in the details!
next stage will be to twaek the handle and quillion sections....might also add some modelled engraving details to the blade etc......plus im not 100% happy with the blade yet anyway ;)

oh yeh cool.
i liek how your building on this. I still have an issue with the grip. I think its to fat then to thin??? was that your intention or are you going back to it? It just doesnt seem to suit the design
but yes, very cool with the addition of those 'pipes'. But other than that... keep it coming!:)

hmmm not sure about the grip as of yet...might go all out of design and give it a bit of a "kinky" handle yet.....
