Well this is my first real attempt at drawing a human, but I cant seem to get it right no matter what I do, here is a copy of where I am so far. Could anyone give me some hints or tips on how to pose it or just tell me what looks wrong. Im used to doing buildings and cars/ machines so I didn’t think I would have such a hard time :( please help any comments are more than welcome.

Well, you can't expect your first attempt at anything to be any good, can you? ;)

If you really want a good tip: take another good look at other people's work, and practice some more! But you're probably not going to be satisfied with that (even though I really mean it), so here's a few pointers...

- Her forehead is too wide.
- Her breasts are too high and too... round.
- Her nose is... bad. Noses are really hard, I know.
- Her arm looks puny.
- Her neck is too long.
- Her shoulders are too wide compared to her hips.
- Her chin is too far back. Not that it's not possible, but it ain't pretty.
- The eyelashes shouldn't be turned inward like that, it makes her look croos-eyed (but that's just my opinion).

Hope this helps.

Yes I fear you are right, the only thing I can really argue is that the neck was meant to look that way. But now that I look at it does seem strange. For some reason I can never seem to see all that is wrong maybe a perception thing, but now that you point it out I think Ill start over hehe. Lets hope my new one wont be so... well, funky lol :) thanks for your help.

It looks to me like you're trying to draw anime-ish people.. which is cool, but don't fall into the trap of drawing *only* anime. The style is very flexible and can produce wonderful things, but you really can only get those things out of it once you understand how real proportion works... that way, when you deform it, it still looks "real". All the above hints are very apt, if you're aiming for the real look, which I suggest you try out at least a bit. Once you get an understanding of that, then try bending, stretching and squishing things to get your desired look.

Happy drawing ^_^

I admit I was going for the mor realistic type of style to make the whole fairy thing more dramatic, but I failed miserably. Im not really adept to human anatomy, so I guess Ill go hunt out some tutorials after I finish my current drawing, which was ironically intended to be anime style :p

Cool! My suggestion, then, is to go buy an anatomy book for artists. A good one of those will help you out with all of your proportion troubles ^_^ Try drawing from the skeleton up a few times, it can be fascinating and it gives you a good idea of what's going on under the skin!
