View Full Version : Sweep Nurbs
polygonguy 06-12-2005, 09:02 AM Hi,
Im just making a Robot with a few wires, im having a problem Im making these wires with sweep nurbs with parralel movement with b-splines with circle spline.
the problem is when i use the circle spline i have to enter in directin like XY ZY XZ or something if i choose XY the bottom part looks good but then where all the curves on the wires are they go flat if i do ZY the top looks good but the bottom looks flat how do i make it all circular not flat?
Sweep Nurbs with Parellel movement makes like a circular wire like a cylinder.
Thnx

Hi,
is this english what you are writing? For a non-native its hard to tell and even harder to distinguish between typos and 'u 'now wha' a mean.
e.g. i couldnt find jobot in my dictionary.
If you could clarify a little bit more i am sure there are much more poster able to give you a hint about what Sweep"NURBS" can do or how to work around their lacks.
regards
Peter

Just use banking in the sweep nurbs options and switch everything else off for a start.
If You have a rail spline you might need to enable rail settings.

Thanks sneaker
but its the same problem some of the parts look cylindrical and some flat i dont think the banking helped it.
Isnt there another way?
Polygonguy
create the sweep path in any but the 3d viewport. create the circle in the 3d viewport. sweep-nurbs it.

Can you please post the file or a picture including splines?
Problems can occour on some spline interpolation settings and/or if the axis have
wrong directions or possitions.

yo polygonguy, give up the robot, basic comunication skill are more urgent :)
also remember that sweepnurbs are extruded along the Y axi, check were is your green handle pointing, no,no not THAT handle.

Actually sweeps use the Z axis--not Y. Just make sure profile curve has it's Z facing out (perpendicular to the shape).
