View Full Version : modo for Windows x64?
dotTom 06-12-2005, 06:20 AM Given Lux’s recent announcement that their Mac OS X/Intel port took all of 20 minutes I was wondering when we’d see a native Windows x64 build from them. Anyone know?

The biggest issue is that it won't provide a HUGE boost since most of your 64 bit usefullness wil come from animation, not modeling.
However, lets say you are doing big modeling, such as the Galactica which is like 4 million polys. When Newtek did their demo of LW64, they opened 8 copies of the Galactica. 32 bit LW could barely handle a single instance of the model.
Newtek has announced 64 bit support, XSI showed a "technology preview" of their software, and you can expect at least one more major vendor to display a 64 bit version of their software at Siggraph.
Certain things Luxology has shown r4ecently will benefit from 64 bit, and I suspect you will hear about it when the time is right.
Siggraph is only about 7 weeks out now.
