View Full Version : an aura problem

here's my recent painting....
i was using the smudging technique for this one, which led to the result of an odd aura around the character.
as you can see, the main problem is around the legs and the right arm. i tried smudging "it" back in (didn't work) and deleting it (which led to an ugly pixelation).
is there any solution, or must i restart from the begining?
also, i'll be more than happy to hear about different techniques for these kind of paintings.
many thanks to the helpers.

umm... the solution is really obvious. Use the paintbrush to fix those areas. You could actually do it with the smudge tool, but I see no point in wrestling with a tool never designed for painting. It always puzzles me when people use this technique.

May I ask why you were using the smudge tool instead of creating a brush to give you the edge you want so you wouldn't have to go back and clean it up? If you're looking for more of a blend that's the strength of painter's mimicing of natural media, not something the smudge tool is meant to do.

It's not the fault of the technique, but of the application of the technique. I've used the smudge tool for lots of painting simulations for specific effects...

Anyway, in the future KrBr, consider painting on different layers. The subject can then be manipulated in many different ways, and you won't get the blending problem. As for fixing this one, I think painting it is your best solution.
