View Full Version : Iris animation problem

ive made an animation of an iris that opens(DOH!), but i need a way, to hide the "blades", when the iris opens, cuz one can see the blades coming out of sides of iris.
it would be great if its possible to "hide/delete" the blades as they come out of sides.

I would start by saying you should have modeled your iris blades properly,
and continue by saying you could animate the visibility of the objects.
Simply go to the frame when you need the blades to disappear press N to activate autokey, right click > properties set visibility to 0 press ok and exit.
you can now edit your visibility keys easily in the dope sheet.
or Set Tangents to Step mode in the Curves editor. for simple On/Off effect.
when visibility is 0 you still get a visual clue like ghost object that an object is there in the viewport so you can select it and manipulate it but when you render it is not there.

however ive found another way(cuz of the 24 hour wait :)), by animating a slice gismo with remove bottom checked.
but your idea sounds also sounds fine.
