Bars appearing in Photoshop images

Can't really guess at any specific issue around this. But try deleting your Prefs file and see if that helps.

You can do that conveniently by starting PS while holding down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys until you get a window asking you if you'd like PS to kill the old file and recreate it. Just say YES and you're on your way.

sounds very much like hardware corruption of your data....check your leads/ram/hd...failing that start tearing your hair out...could even be a psu going on the blink. If it was a gfx driver/card issue it wouldnt show up on the saved images (i assume you've opened them on other machines to check?)

PS and other adobve apps etc tend to show up these problems because of the methods they use to save to disk and work from the disk are different from other apps.

Thanks! It turns out my processor's been overtaxed by other programs running in the background. Having deleted them, it happens much less frequently. Some of the corruption is permanent regardless of CPU usage, but it's relatively easy to get around.
