well, i'm trying to achieve a sad walk for a practice animation. let me know what you guys think.

Not to bad, a good start for sure. The few suggestions I would give you is that when you want to portray an emotion in an action every ounce of movement helps.

What I would add to this sequence is the following:

#1) at the peak of his stride have his head rise ever so slightly and then as he stance moves down have his head flop back down into place. (like his head is all loose and he has lost all hope)

#2) your current hand animations are a little stiff. So to fix that when the arm is furthest back on the stride have is wrist and finders flick (slightly curled) back as he steps forward. Adding more expression to the walk. also when his arms are at the fore most position bend his elbows up slightly and then when the arm starts to move back again have them flop into place.

#3) Slightly reduce the bobbing motion.
