Hi,
Iīm most impressed with the Predator, havenīt seen a lot of those!
Okay, on to the (hopefully constructive) critique: The first thing that caught my attention, was the nose(?). It seems a bit flat, the whole edge of the mouth from one upper spike to another goes in an almost straight line... Donīt remember that much from the movie, but it seems that you could roughen it up a bit, maybe add some curvature... second, but less of a problem are the "dreadlocks", they seem a bit plastic, maybe all they need is a bit of bump mapping?
But besides those few points, Iīd say itīs hard to believe your "new" to character modelling!

it just doesnt look like a "predator". A friend of mine spent a total of 3 weeks working on a high poly predator (most of the time on the head) and the one thing i notice different about yours is that the mouth is pushed way back into the head. He modeled his off of a ref pic and the mouth actually sticks out from the head.

they arent the best pics that was all i could find quickly heh. As you can see in them the jaw line actually sticks foreward more. I do like your predator but if your going to mimic the ones from movies/games id move that jaw out.

Tanks for the tips!,i spend a few hours in zbrush but im planning to do from scratch in max and add details in z brush i start this head frmo zspehere but i dont know how to use it pretty well :)
I see the predator from your friend itīs impressive!!!
,And yes im new doing this im working in a studio but i do most character moddeling for hobbie

Here its a update i do the head from scratch in max and detail in zbrush still i have
to do the diffuse map and the rest of the body....
Go for the definitions in the skull area ;)
Looking good, much much better in the mouthparts :)

Go for it :D Hehe if it comes in handy later on, I bought this big book about the creature effects in AVP, it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and freely mocked the Predator franchise (after waiting 13 years it kinda made me puke blood T_T), but there is some good material in the effects book. There is even a near finished armoured pred sculpture in crucifix pose ^_^
If you think of scans you might want a look at, lemme know and I'll try me best.

Hi!Thanks!,not yet i plan to do a map to control the sss too ,but i leave to end because i plan to do all body and i don`t know how much render time will consume the entire escene,
Anyway the Head in the final comp it`s 10% of this size in screen.
Its a battle between the predator and some aliens,nothing new ,im planning to do some
test animation of the jaw also to see how respond the displace and sss maybe.

Hey
First, good job man. I finished the predator a while ago so i studied it like the back of my hand.
-U have a good start with the texture, but his basics colors are more greenish and yellowish
-The eye sockets have to be a little smaller. I worked about 2 weeks to give him the mean look without textures, the eyes have to be smaller and also more deep inside and closer to each other.
-the texture on the eyes is good,but the pupils should be smaller (that way it makes him scarier)
I'll email u a bit later some of good ref i found on ebay. if its ok with you.
Keep up the good work
PS. I dont care what people say. AVP ROCKS!

Hi have the chance to work in the predator last weekend,itīs very good than
after work,i come home tired.
Thanks to a cool guy that send me some very good references (TheBuzz) i could
see that a lot of fixing was needed in the head so i spend the saturday
fixing it and sunday testing renders in Vray.
the big issue is the memory that the scene take to render,itīs very heavy
and vray keeps crashing so i have to decrease the resolution of some maps :(
The thigns to be done are the hairs in the head,fixing the color of the body
to match the head ,and model the rest of the props and materials.

Its pretty much perfect, my only C+C would be that the neck, maybe to smooth some increased bump map? Maybe scratch all the surfaces up? But really its pretty much perfect nice work. Are the textures all hand painted, you did mention 2D still image from the net?

In the beginnig i was using some references and painted on top of it,but dosen`t work very well since it almost imposible for me to combine the displace done in zbrush with the colur map(you could see that in the past pics),now almost all are hand painted in zbrush,the only part that i need to fix or better to say paint it`s the forehead as you can see it`s sort of strecht in that area.
I plan to fix that so the head it`s fully hand painted and with no strecht at all.
The 2d stills that i was talking where a big help from a guy,i was modelling whitout too much references and those pics where a big help,i was tryying to use those as texture but after fighting and losing a lot i decide to paint all in zbrush since it as a lot of tools,at the begining i was thinking that it will take me a lot but after a few hour the head was finished so for the body,i have decide to paint directly in zbrush whiout tryiing nothing in photoshop.
i have painted the displace a bit in photoshop to to retouch and add details like veins after
zbrush
About the neck are its weird the map in 3dsmax its a gradient but in the render it`s llok like sort of triangular thing,hope to fix this soon if i can`t wehit dispalce i model it,
The part really complicated about this model are the weapons,im doing the cannon now and it`s very complicated,i have this references from AVP dvd but all are obscure and lacking of detail so o some parts of the guns im guessing

PS:it`s not that dificult to paint this.Zbrush as several brushes (alphas) that work very well for doing scales,bumps and those tipes of things
