View Full Version : flying pixels
Mayanuby 06-10-2005, 09:40 AM I've got a mask- image (see enclosed picture) made with my visual basic program. As you can see there are some 'flying' pixels that aint part of the face. Is there an easy way to delete those ?

Not really, nope.
You'll have to go around the head with the Eraser tool set too 100% and use a hard brush, just 'nipping' away at the random pixels til it's cleaned up.
TBH it really shouldn't take more than a few minutes to cleanup. Honest.

Two really quick things you may try:
1. Wand select white (say tolereance of 18), Select>Grow (maybe grow once more) Select>Modify>Expand 1 pixel, fill with white or delete.
2. Wand select back (say tolereance of 10), hold shift and lasso eyes, mouth (anythinginside black area, Select>Modify>Contract 1 pixel Select>Inverse, fill with white or delete.
Your actual solid areas are already a little jagged so doing this is not going to make your black areas any worse. If you want to loose the flying pixels as well as clean the jaggedness on your image area. I would suggest tracing the image with the pen tool. When your done make a selection out of the path, Inverse, delete and presto! A cleaner image than want you started with!
