View Full Version : 3D wireframes
Kansai 06-10-2005, 12:49 AM Hello all this is really a question for illustrator cs but i did a search in this forums for wireframe found a post that talked about doing it inside of illustrator and photoshop but the link to the article was not present for some reason.
But my question i just downloaded the trial version of illustrator cs and found the live trace option to trace from a photo. I wanted to know if anyone knows how to make a wire frame from a live traced image done inside illustrator cs.
any help or links would be great thanx

a wireframe as in a 3d wireframe ???
I don't really get your question... Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the live trace meant to vectorize bitmap images (as in Flash)

I have Illustrator 11 and didn't even realize it had that feature. I bought it a few months ago with intentions of learning the program but as of yet have not found time.
Anyway, I'm not sure if this answers your question, but you can export as a dxf to use as a mesh. I don't know if all 3d apps will import dxf but I do know Bryce 5.5 and Blender will. If this does not answer your question maybe at least it will give you another path.

the "3d" mesh is merely an appearance. It won't actually be 3d.
And yes, this live trace is new in CS2 (illustrator only)
