View Full Version : Lightstorm modeling plugin for maya
What do you think of that? (http://www.lightstorm3d.com/ads/ls3d.avi)
Or is it just some sort of procedural modeling and animation based on the objects history? Any comments?

Couldn't this be done with Jenna or Path deformer, unless I'm not really seeing what is going on here?
It looks nice but honestly I think most of the effect is in the textures. Wes is right, this can be done be PD and Jenna; the colors however are pretty amazing.

I agree, the texture is pretty cool, but it does say "modelling and animation tool" (if I remember correctly, I tossed the movie and am to lazy to download it again)

I was thinking the same thing--as to being able to approach this in jenna. The example, however, looks like a blended shape, ie "metaballs-ish" as opposed to instancing. I suppose it could be mimicked in Jenna though with some creativity.

I wouldn't say you're the only one, nobody was really gushing about it.
By the way... you been doing any rig work lately? I really haven't been, more 3d for print kind of stuff but I am itching to get back to it.

in my spare minutes I have been trying to get a bit done recently. I just applied for a TD position at bluesky, but unfortunately didn't make the cut. The rigs they are looking for are amazingly complex cpmared to most I've ever made or used. Also learned a lot about what to do and what not to do on a TD reel. Lack of Mel Script was another issue, but I"m attending some Maya Master classes for rigging and mel.
one thing I've been playing around with that really helped me get my TD reel finished in tme for my interview was Weightlifter pro, if your serious abut doing character stuff that one plugin that will really save your bacon, greatly alleviates the pains of skinning.

Thanks for the update, Kai.
Sorry about the Bluesky position but you never know what doors will open, eh?
Thanks for the Weightlifter pro "heads-up". That one is on my list "to buy"
Keep on keepin' on.
