Basically wondering if any body knows weather it is possible to save a project in Maya 6.0 so that it can be edited in 3D max studio?????

Yes this can be done to an extent. What exactly do you mean by Project? You can use the "export" option of maya to export a format your version of max can recognize. You may have to download OBJ to max exporter plugins for maya or obj import plugin for max.
