View Full Version : errors in opening PSD file

hi

when i open a PSD file i'm working on ps output a window - i have attached the window image in attachment- even i just closed the PS and reopen it...it works fine on other PSDs and images
if you think the file is corrupted in anyway does anyone knows a way to retrieve the file or atleast most of it

it happens to me when photoshop's getting bugged up, most of the time restarting the app will work...


Program error it could be, though...

have you tried opening the file with another program? irfanview/acdsee/painters/paintshop pro?

it looks to me like it's just PS being buggered, the image is probably not corrupt.

the image opened in acdsee but the same message appear again if i opened it in ps
error in the programme......

i repainted everything with new file and happend again I can't open the file its the same message :cry:

i've run into a similar problem when i saved a jpeg with a .psd extension...PS then tried to open it back up as a .psd and spat the dummy because the file wasn't in the format it was trying to open.

i repainted everything with new file and happend again I can't open the file its the same message :cry:

How about renaming the file to a different name.

I'm painting an 2K image and I've 512 ram(DDR).but most of the programes are closed even that shouldn't effect right?

Ok, did you try "Open As" in photoshop, see if that will work.

didn't work :( BUT i tryed to open it in image ready it worked
I tryed to export it back to photo shop the same image appeared :banghead:

have you tried altering the layers in the psd? If you have type try this: duplicate those layers, then rasterize the duplicate layers make sure to turn off the original type layes (oh and lock them as well). Save as a different name. Restart photoshop and open the file.

the file it self isn't working. it don't wan't to open

anyway I moved back to PS 7
till I finish what i'm working on I will look again for this prob
but there's something i'm mostly sure about this message don't appear in 1k image :shrug: maybe the lack of ram :shrug:

i tried. just for kicks if you have a second, try doing what I suggested in 7 and reopen it in the problem PS and see if that works?

i didn't try what u said actually I got in colour file only about 160 layer BUT the colour PSD file that wouldn't open NOW it worked but it don't contain more than 2 sets (uv + colour) and yes its under different name. But the other file that contain the other maps (contain about 5 layer sets at least) didn't worked.
