Programming Mental Ray 3.4

Has anybody heard anything about the new mental ray books coming out. They look very good, but the price is crazy I thought buying my calc book was crazy, but 180 bucks for a computer book!! I can buy mental ray standalone at a student price for almost that much!

But anyways it looks like its going to be a good book and would be a good way to dive into the programming of mental ray 3.4

THe links you provided says the price is $90 which is acceptable for me.

Well i guess I over shot that one... the first one is US$169.00 and the second one is 89.00.... so together they would be 258 thats kind of alot.

Maybe they will have an install ment plan or something like that.

hmm..I seem to remember that you get a (digital) copy of programming mentalray with the rendering for mentalray book, but I can't find that info on the web site, so I might remember wrong...

I ordered it online from springer-verlag. they EMAILED my deatilas including my credit card no. to their new buchhandlung company in austria. these guys are just setting up and probably deserve a bit if slack but they fwded the springer email to me which had all my details on it, asking for the very same details??
i rang them up to grumble a bit but the lady on the other end of the phone sounded really nice /cute so i crumbled instead of grumbled. she told me the books are going to print for a bit more, she actually said the summer but i guess she meant a few more weeks.
might be safer to go through amazon though.

Programming mental ray comes with every XSI license as an ebook. 170 USD for the paperback is too much I think. The 1st edition I bought 3 years ago costs about 90 USD.
