I'm currently doing some tests for a shoot later this month in which the talent needs to be holding a CG magnifying glass. So I'm doing some testing shooting myself holding various objects that I'm trying to track - the camera is locked. I've tried a black paddle with white markers, as well as ping pong balls on a wire frame, etc. All I need to do is track the markers and create a 3D object in Max or Maya that moves the same in 3D space - the camera stays locked the whole time. I'm using Boujou 2.1 for the tracking using target tracks to track each ball. Its kinda working ok - but the track still isn't very good.

Can anyone give me any pointers on what object to use during the shoot to track or any other tips?

Many thanks.

I'd think somethink like the wireframe with small spheres on it would be good. I say small because you need to fit somewhere between 7 & 11 on there, I think, for a good 3D track I think. Also, they shouldn't all be on the same plane, (which I know is difficult when trying to simulate a magnifying glass). Makes for more parallax and a better track.
