I've had no problems running max4 with XP pro. Solid as a rock for a good year now.

Oh, make sure you have the latest idrop handy for max4. go to discreet do download it. The old max 4 node lock will not work with windows xp pro, unless you have the latest 4.2 handy.
cheers!:)
FYI: The diff between win2000 and winxp pro is not so much the diff but compliantcy. winxp pro is supposed to be all in one os meaning the best of the nt and win 98 world. So, one could in theory run all of win98 apps within the pro environment. I'm still trying after many moons now.
Edit: idrop = CDilla. hehe, sorry for the bobo.

Yes a couple of my friends that I help with PC troubleshooting had problems with max under XP. Specifically they had conflicts with Norton Antivirus and with CD-related application such as DirectCD (roxio), InCD (nero) and Virtual CD. It runs OK for most people I know though. You do need updated C-dilla. I don't see any reasons to "upgrade" for now. We'll have to eventually, but what's the rush?

I didn't have any problems either when I upgraded my win me to XP. But when I did a new 'clean' install of XP and installed max, it wouldn't work anymore this was solved by installing the new Cdilla drivers.
Just thought I mentioned that...

Sertainly not! The only difference with the pro edition is that u have more/better network options/control, that's all. Besides that the pro and home edition are the same.

wow, so then i guess XP does look like a good choice since most of you say it is very solid.
