View Full Version : animation mentor replicate rigs
does anyone out there have any models that are rigged that are like the simple character rigs that animation mentor uses? If so I would really appreciate it if you would let me play with it.
Please let me know. Thanks

The rigs are really very basic, no fancy secrets or anything. So far we've had a bouncing ball, which was a ball with a squash deformer on it (more or less), a ball with a tail which just had an FK joint chain parented to it with tail geometry parented to the bones. The only human character we have is just completely FK, but with IK on the legs.
I am still new to maya, and have no experience rigging. I used to use animation master and once I would get into rigging I could never leave it alone, so I would like to try to avoid by getting a simple pre-rigged model.

try www.rigging101.com (http://www.rigging101.com) and look for IK joe. play around with him and see if you like it, and they also have good rigging tutorials.

I posted a rig a couple weeks ago in the Animation section and also here in the Maya forum. It's a pretty simple rig, not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it might help. :)
Here's the link:

I checked out IKJoe, there is some nice rigs there, but for some reason the legs don't move. Looks like they aren't bound or something. I admit I was looking for something more simple. I will try out the ball in the next short while.
Thanks

Andrew Silke's "Generi" rig is also very good - http://www.andrewsilke.com/rigs_scripts.html.
Also other rigs on Highend3d.com - http://highend3d.com/maya/mel/?group=melscripts§ion=animation
But these may all be more complex than you are looking for.
Hope that helps you.

Hmmm... what would those be then? I know you're all using Maya but are there some special scripts or something for working with your rig(s)?
Care to eloborate a bit?
:)
