View Full Version : WIP: asylum
theRobJ 06-04-2005, 03:32 PM Here's an interior scene I've been working on, based on this (http://unquiettomb.com/byberry03.html) photo of an abandoned mental hospital.
This is just a quick render of my progress so far, the lighting and materials still need quite a bit of work, but any suggestions for for things that could be added/changed in the scene would be gratefully received.
Cheers,

Looks to me like some of the floor props are out of proportion with the rest of the scene.
nice lighting, though.

Id try and make the wall finish look more like the photo, its not that kind of wipe clean tile in your render and it looks too much like nice stonework instead. The same definitely goes for the sofas - its all too clean an soft, it needs to be more plastic with dirty veneers on the side panels. It kinda resembles a student's union (very ugly one) rather than an institution.

ernia- agreed; I've scaled down the aerosol & some of the rubbish on the floor now.
As for the sofas, I haven't started texturing them yet, so rest assured they'll be nice & dirty when finished.

although there is a fair bit of light streaming through the windows, i think that you would probably still see something through them, so you could try and show some surroundings...
I dunno, I kinda like that washed out look in the windows; to me it feels right. If the obvious scale issues have been fixed I wouldn't worry to much about this image it's very good and will just keep on getting better, you are definitely on the right track.
