View Full Version : still: soldier
Here is something i modeled recently. I don't have the time as of now to texture and light it, so it's just the model alone.

Good enough caliber to use in a respectable portfolio? Any other questions i will answer too. Peace

already looks cool but make the fingers and the arms thicker and maybe add some more detail, like buttons and stuff, to the machine gun to make it look more interesting and futuristic.

very nice model...and by another purdue student as well.
There are a few problems i can see, but they're pretty easy to fix.
the arm, as said before is too skinny(unless it's a woman).
the gun looks kinda boxy in that lighting...maybe beveling some edges will help fix that.
and finally the barrel of the gun looks strange. maybe make it straight and uniform rather than making it dip in the middle.
Even if you don't fix those problems it'll definitely be good enough for your demo reel.
hey, are you in any of my classes? 411, 415, 442?
later.

if the gun is modeled after the FAMAS, then i would expect it to be a little boxy, but this is just a bit much. round off the edges just the slightest bit IMHO
yeah, it is the FAMAS, hehe. Best gun IMO.
That's the problem with Maya, i don't know how to do chamfer boxes (which is cake in max). So hence i gotta smooth it all, or none at all.
And in the terms of the fingers and wrists being skinny, do you think that maybe you just expect them to be thicker because of the added padding and equipment makes the character look bigger elsewhere in the body?
