View Full Version : render question
[.Q.] 06-04-2005, 02:39 PM hi.. i was wondering.. i just rendered out an uncompressed avi in maya.. and after effects wont import it or any re-coded version of it...ok fine i sayd
then i rendered out as tga sequence.. and imported them into after effects.
The sequence was rendered out against a black background so i used a plugin to make an alpha channel.. but not my object is VERY transparent...
so basicly the question is: how do i render against an transparent background.. so i dont have to use that make AC plugin.?
thanks

Im no expert at exporting into after effects but if you save the targas with an alpha channel from Maya, does that not work? Otherwise use a bright green or blue background (or some colour that isnt in your scene) and use after effects to get rid of it.

yes yes i did set premultiplied in After effects...
so there isnt a way to render against a transparent background?
i just rerendered with the composited background and its better..but i would like not to render it with it

I'm sorry, but that "black edge" looks like it's just your lighting. Either point some lights at it or add some ambient lighting.

could be a problem with your shader. check your shader.
