hi all,

glad to see a rhino forum finally appear :) ok, now back to business...

i have a 3d model created in rhino with dimensions called out. i know that you can make a 2d drawing of your 3d model thru the dimension tools, however the dimensions do not get placed on that 2d drawing. i've also tried exporting the model (in perspective view) as an illustrator, dxf, and dwg format, but it also does not work. the illustrator file shows the 3d model in perspective, but no dimensions. the dxf and dwg files show the model from top view with dimensions, but the dimensions are not where they're suppossed to be. any ideas on how i can export a 2d drawing with dimensions of a 3d perspective view?

all help appreciated

If you select the dimensions when you do Make2D, they get put on the views according to the plane on which they were drawn. They don't get placed in perspective views, probably because the engine can't handle distorting the dimensions to match the perspective while keeping them "dimensions" with editable text. You can, however, Print perspective views with dimensions, so there's the possibility for a workaround there if you print to a postscript file or Acrobat.

thanks jim. i've just tried the print to pdf option and it works to some extent. you do get dimensions, but you also get the model wireframes as well. what i really need is to have a 2d perspective view with dimensions. but this method will do for now. hopefully this will be addressed in ver.4. anyhow, thanks!

Dimensions can be set to appear in renderings too, btw.
