This is comething I'm working on for a competition at college. We had to design a winter card. My art teacher wanted us to do either a collage, montage or photomontage.

I chose to do a photomontage in the background and to paint the snowqueen by hand digitally as you can see it's not quite finished all crit welcome thanks:

This probably isn't the best backdrop for you to use -- the vanishing point is much lower than that of your princess, so the perspectives don't match. Also, the castle appears too close to her so she appears to be a giantess by comparison.

I agree, hmm I will have to see if I can make changes for that, thanks for taking the time to comment :)

the left castle archway is too in-focus. the depth of field appears wrong. maybe if you shrank the castle pieces.

also. i agree that the perspective is off. the figure is being viewed from straight-on and perhaps slightly low angle and the castles are definately being viewed from a higher angle.

i like the figure itself, it has a soft fuzzy-dreamy quality. maybe you could use the castles as reference and draw your own castle/arches/ruins. they don't even have to look like 'typical' buildings. i think with the feeling the figure and the snow already gives off you should go with an empherial kind of structure. very hazy-like.

I think this is the final design...allthough I'm sure there are somethings I will probably change once my art teacher, Vicky, gets her hands on it.

The design is for a christmas card competition (bit early in the year yes but this is the time of year the industry usually start creating them as I'm sure some of you probably know). It had to be none culture specific, so no religious simbols and such, which is good for me because I don't celebrate christmas anyway :D

So I thought, winter card and then thought it would be great to design a character...a snow queen :D so here it is:
