WOW!, just WOW.... Totally nailed the scene :) gorgeous atmosphere.. I really like the fact you used the nice orange keylighting, and still managed to keep the scene "cold"
good job

I agree with the above. I actually feel colder after seeing this and want some cocoa now. I would like to see a more high rez version to depict all of the miniscule details. How long to render? How much post? Again, awesome work.
Gorgeous detail and excellent lighting. The ice looks a little too much like rock rather than ice for my taste but still a great render.

hey el rafo! f***ing gorgeous!
thats a scene impression and a very unusual motive.
put up small highlights on the ice (looks like concrete) and/or a wind carrying some light clouds of ice crystals/snow. this would take the image to superior quality.

So amazingly painterly- and not Cinema 4D (just so everyone knows- i don't use cinema 4d- but I like its render- no need to start a software argument). This is a great work of art- I look forward to seeing further posts from you

en effet conscient pour le rendu de la glace, je vais y travailler, mais comme c'est plus un travail de compo que de réalisme ;p

wow, that looks great! great job!
i agree with others that the ice looks too "hard" (like rocks), I guess you'd want some sort of sub-surface scattering effect there...
anyway, love it!

real great image, but its a shame that your ice looks like concrete, if there would be reflective and translucent effects present the image would be at least 2x stronger

The composition is, indeed, very very good - alone the fact that the ship points from right to left is a very good idea: this way its advance is blocked more forcibly than it would be if it pointed left to right.
I'll have to agree with F10 about the ice - it could be a bit transparent somewhere - but to tell you the truth, I never noticed until I read his post. Besides, if it's frozen REALLY solid - old ice - how transparent does it have to be?

Wow :bounce: this is definately 5 stars for me. I love the colour, lighting, atmophere. The model doesn't seem very highpoly but there is so much detail, your texturing mush be just kickass. And it does look like Friedrich, as you mentioned, i love it. Man you must be one of my favorites, and i loved you prince of persia stuff btw.

Oki ! That's why you asked for the ice !
Really nice, except the fact that ice doesn't look like ice, maybe with some SSS or even a slight auto-ilum...
Anyway, nice work !
Oh, another comment, les voiles should fall vertically for the gran mat, gravity when you hold us ;)

Wholy ****
Damnz! i realy love this! I like the lighting it realy brings the mood to it.. all deserted and cold.
Realy nice details, i think you could prolly make the ice look a bit less like stones by putting some little refelctions on it or some melting water dripping. But that's just the only thing i could think of.
Overall ***** stars from me!

thanks for the enthusiastic comments,
Indeed my arctic is an alien arctic, this is why the ice is very old and concretelike :)
kidding,
I'll do an improved verision with less bump, I think this is the problem is more in the bump/diffuse, see the Ice of Gaspard Friedrich, no icy reflection but more flat and bright ...

I love the lighting and how it illuminates all the surrounding and objects in the scene.
The complexity of the ground is very natural looking and bizarre at the same time.
I love the detail of the ship and the ground.
