EDIT:

Hello all! After finding out that Maya can't render with sound, I was a bit disappointed... Nevertheless, after playing around with maya's software renderer... Here now is one that's close to presentable for a final render... I hope you all like it... I sure learned a lot from this... I already have plans for a very-short short for this model... ^_^ And i'll be sure to post it here when it's done... :)

-Final Render (left mouse click and chose open or save) 5MB file size

I'm new here so welcome to me! :)
This is my first post, and is also my first in everything with Maya...
from modeling, rigging, weighting, texturing, a couple of scripts, even some sdk's
all are very basic and noobish... ^_^ I just want to share what i've been working on
for 2 months... Special thanks goes to Jason Osipa's custom UI setup, and to his book
titled "Stop Staring" http://www.jasonosipa.com/JasonOsipa_Main.htm which helped
out a whole bunch! Also, to maya's help files! :D

I have a few questions if anyone is willing to help... As you can tell, the movie is a playblast
grab from maya... I did try to render it with maya software set to .avi file... However the
sound was not included and further more the video playback is a lot faster than it's
supposed to be... Am I missing out on something? Anyones help would be much needed!
Thanks in advance! :)

EDIT:

Hello again! I found a free webserver... Im sure linking it here would probably cause it to crash since I have no idea on it's bandwidth limit... Anyway, below I will be linking to a render test copy, and a clearer playblast video with wireframe and controls... Hope you like it...

i've been using it since march 2005... just this year... :) i highly recommend that book if you're into lip sync animation... this took me about 2 months in and out, no fixed times, only working on it when i felt like it... boy did i get frustrated! :scream: but a very fun and rewarding process nontheless! learned a lot from that bad boy!

I did some touch ups i noticed, like the "B" in "bartender" and "buddy" isn't pronouced strong enough... It's also in shaded and wireframe view plus a lot clearer if you care to take a look, i can send a .rar file over which is about 4mb... :) im glad you liked it! :)

Ive been using maya for about 5 years......the book is brilliant not just for showing you how to make and rig the face but it goes into details about humna expresion and why and when we use them......I highly recomend it.....

Hello! I posted new links for downloading... It's a free host so I don't know how long it will hold up in terms of bandwidth limit... Large forums usually crash servers... :scream: I hope the lucky few will enjoy it!

First, I think what you have achieved in a short time is awesome.

However when the lips move they seems to be moving so much compared to the rest of the face, they're like hyperactive flapping in and out way too much maybe its down to geometry, texturing or something in the rigging process. The lipsync poses seem a little too ridged, it needs to flow a little more, try playing with the animation curves in the graph editor.
