Is there anyway to render a realistic glass of coke, where say you had a wedge shaped object the thin part would be clear as it got thicker it would become darker brown?
can praline help me do this?

get "distance falloff" plugin for free from maxons website, or get "Praline" from bhodinut which can do a whole heap more, for what you want though distance falloff will do the trick.

Falloff shader is not so good for transparency, it works better with reflections. Praline's ray depth is not bad for changing color due to depth, but it's just a color changer, not a volumetric shader.

i've not had a problem with distance falloff... you do have to set it to transparency mode as opposed to reflection mode, but that's not too much of an inconvenience. it is however not the fastest, and do produce nice rich effects by layering it you end up paying a real penalty in render times... i think it's a coffee shader which would account for it. in terms of limitations... it can't tell where a surface ends if it's in front of another distance falloff surface, hence if you look at a glass from above the front edge will appear to be darker than it should because it's counting the full depth of the glass object as opposed to the distance between the front and back face... apart from that it's a nifty free shader :)

See thirdeye, I told you all to be patient. I am starting a thread here about the plugin for Arndt as well, just look up in a few minutes
