View Full Version : Newbie question! About perspective view in 3ds max.
Ckabusk 06-02-2005, 12:57 AM Well, When I make up some objects in my scene and all materials on prespective are always solid, not actual 2d image on objects like this:

I did changed my graphic mode for my 3ds max such as Dx 9, OpenGl, or software and it dosent help at all. Do you have any idea??

Hit 'F3', it's the short-cut for turning smoothing on and off.

not that one, it turns my perspective view into wireframe, I dont want that.

u need to put a material on them and also in the material editor u need to turn on in veiw port read the tourtials that come with max it will help you for sure thats how i learned max3 just came out so i used the books
The Show Map in viewport button in the Material editor seem's to be what you are looking for:

Here is how it's done.. Right click on the viewports name (in this case "fron") and then choose smooth + highlighst.

I recently found out about it too, I'd have necer guessed it was r-click on "Perpective" though. But me just installed Max has smothing+highlights as default so I think it's indeed the "apply material to object" button.
