Started this one yesterday. Modeling in 3dsmax, using polymodeling. The later on renders will be rendered with V-ray. Hope you like it :)

Hi man, as this is my favorite car, I shoud have rigid criteria, so... great start man. I've started few times to model SLR too, but as my blueprints was awful and with a part finished model I was lazy to follow that ugly blueprints, and made something close to concept car(URL is bottom). Enough of my problems, ya model is good so far,can't wait to see it finished. Keep on.
P.S. Could you send me blueprints,(just answer in replay I'll give you my mail, or just post it for me and other SLR fans). Thanks!

Great start! Mesh looks nice and clean so far.

Are you modeling panel by panel? I am working on my first car model and never thought of doing it that way. I am working from the overall form then adding detail as I break up the panels. If you are doing it panel by panel how do you make sure you keep the lines smooth across panels?

Look forward to seeing the vray renders!

@docaml and anyone else who wanted the prints

When using these, dont forget to change the size of the front and backview to match the side and top view.

@SimonGibson
Tnx :)

@sconlogue
I just create 1 poly, and shift-drag it till I have the shape I want. I mostly start with the hood and I start with the detail right away. After The hood is done I just shift drag the edges. The places where the seams are gonna come, I chamfer them and delete the polys there.

i really like what you've done till now....it's great work....

i would have one question....how did you do the car paint (looks like you used hdri)...can u explain how can i do the same material ? (using vray of course or mental ray). I worked hard to achieve a good car paint material...and i did....but your (as i can see in these renders) is far more impressive (congrats). Thank you.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :thumbsup:

It's just a shellac material with V-ray materials in both slots, with fresnel reflections.

Can't wait to see the final result! So far you have made some good work here. I'm impressed.
And thanks for the blueprints! Couldn't find them till now ;)

If you could place some render with red paint added it would be great ;)

It's been a long time since I've worked on this model. Started working on it again somewhere this week. Made the rims, the material needs more work though, the original rims are much whiter.
