I'm following along with this page.
http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/body2.asp

and am wondering what tool in lightwave would produce this result?
If I merge vertices then I just get a triangle; is there any sort of delete edge function ?

thanks.

I don't think there's any tool that'll do it in one step like the tutorial. You can either use Remove Edge which will leave the point behind so you'll have to weld it, or you can just weld the point and then merge the polys.

delete edge exists in LW [8] (details, remove edge).

A lot of people here have already redone michel roger's tutorial and it works fine though you must be aware of the fact that LW does not subdivide Ngons and you'll have to fix them manually by adding edges for instance ;)

Wow, that was quick reply. I'll go ahead and give it a try it. This opened my eyes to a whole new set of tools.

hi, just use the command "merge polygons".
this removes the edge between two (or more) polygons, by fusing them.
after that you just select the excessive point and "cut" it (i think they changed i to CTRL+X in the latest version) - no need for welding.

this is the fastest way i know.

have fun,
Michael
