hello all!

just a wee question about the marquee tool in photoshop, whenever you have multiple layers and want to move things in a selected area on these layers but not merge them,it only moves the one layer i am on,which makes sense i suppose, but is there a way to select a certain area using the marquee tool and move things on all layers at once?

hope u understand what im getting at?

Have you linked the layers? it's next to the eye icon on the layer pallet.

unfortunately linking only works without a selection...as soon as you make a selection any transformation or moves only work on the selected layer...a royal pain in the arse. :(

Make an Action.

Exactly, just record the first layer and let ps do the rest.

an additional tip is to merge the visible layers (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E or CMD+OPT+SHIFT+E), make the selection, and then move it over as a flattened layer. Having said this, it's also good that you are using an action - very much an underutilized tool!
