As for fear #4, I don't mean anything bad about you guys. In fact, you're the most friendly forum I think I've ever been on. Up until now though, everyone else has either been very critical of my work or completely ignored it.

The daily sketch is probably the funnest thing ever. Whoever thought of it should be famous. :applause:

Great topic! I just looked at www.phobialist.com which had a really great and long list to pick from. Who knew there would be an actual phobia for the Fear of gravity?! That one would be hard to get around in daily life, unless you managed to become an astrounaut!

Been awhile, and a bit out of practice... but what could be scarier than spiders dressed as clowns? That would be... arachnocoulrophobia?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/gauntman/sketch/sketch359.png

Sketched and colored in OpenCanvas; Textured w/artrage; post-processed in GIMP. Total time 55 minutes;

Hexaditidom, this looks like it would make a good poster. I like how you tied all four phobias together

Her0d, I didn't fear dentists until now... I like the light bloom effect

Truth is, I'm terribly afraid of the dark. Cripplingly so on some occasions. Really only if I start thinking about it, though. It's very awkward to be the age I am and still not able to sleep with the lights turned off, ha ha.

Uh, sort of a self-portrait.

Thanx, Sacha and Thany! (...where's your entry, Thany?)
You're sketch is kind of fascinating, Sacha, because it seems very harmless when scrolling by it, but once you look past the strange white smudge all over it, it's an amazing sketch underneath!!! I would say you should update it and reveal what's hidden! It's very damn good!

Enayla...hmmm....I'm always amazed and curious what goes on in the visualizing section of your brain. I wonder if it is the amount of practice from constantly having translated photographs that made you understand the play of light along forms, especially the human form. Or if it is this deep understanding of it all by your very own nature. Your style eliminates any possible worry about the photographic quality of your work anyway, but no matter what...when I look at the hand, particularely the one gripping to "your" hair there, I'm in awe...really. It's not about perfection or accuracy or anything, it's about how natural it appears to come onto the image and the lightly feeling execution, effortless and playfully routined. Maybe I'm a bit scared, too. Maybe it's time for a tiny little making of from you again...but I wouldn't want to dare you. Good job! :D

Sodiaz: GREAT STYLE!!! I'm just confused about the bizarrely unpolished quality of the "girls(?)" figure infront of the clown. Love the balloon, too!

Kalorlo: Looks like fear of spontanous combustion! Very nice! ;)

Vahn: WHAT THE HELL...HAHAHA!?! :applause:

splinepusher: nice execution, but somehow it feels like the opposite to me...haha...dunno. How about another version from the top down?! Hihihi....anyway, great picture! :D

danielh68: love it. I really do somehow love it. It has a beginning of the 20th century feel...great and rare here! :bounce:

Sascha -- thankee <3

Taron - Thank you :] Do you get some pieces where something is -really- easy to do and then others where it's extremely difficult? this one sketch was fun and quick and simple, focusing on the light and shadow and not caring about the anatomy, and ending up with a result that looks rather convincing even though I flubbed the anatomic details. I must confess to having had a mirror next to me while working on it (I wanted it to be a self-portrait, as it turns out, it doesn't really look much like me at all), maybe that's what has translated into it, I don't know. I have to confess I have no idea what's going on in my mind for the most part, none at all :]

Personally, I wish I could understand light the way you do. It always seems to turn out quite neutral in most my pictures... and looking at your sketch there, I'm amazed by what you can whip out so quickly. Vibrant.

Great stuff I've seen. Here is mine....Zemmiphobia...the fear of naked mole rats. First time in Painter IX and about 15+ years since I messed with paints seeing as I was one of the sculpture monkeys in college...just did the canvas I had to to get back to the clay, metal and stone. Did it in about 1 1/2 hrs. until the kids got bored and came to see what I was doing and dragged me from the computer....crits welcome...wish I had more time to develop a scene....its all in one layer.

Truth is, I'm terribly afraid of the dark. Cripplingly so on some occasions. Really only if I start thinking about it, though. It's very awkward to be the age I am and still not able to sleep with the lights turned off, ha ha.

umm.. there's no electric lights in Sweden (they haven't
invented fire either ,yet, for that matter) so they capture
bucketfulls of sunlight during daytime and release it little by
little from the buckets to illuminate their dwelligns during the
dark hours. Some of their witches have found a way to
create magical candles that bind sunlight. They then trap
little wood spirits to release the sunlight from the candles.
The spirits act as big amplifiers so candle light is much
brighter and lasts longer than bucket light.
There is a minor drawback to this trick, not like the witches

Posibly The Most Crippling Phobia in Life...

Please read Below

http://www.myfilestash.com/userfiles/MagicRubber/V%20Govne%20Teplo.jpg

Now you are wondering why are there two worms in a pile of crap and what does this have to do with the topic... I will tell you.

This is taken from a russian anecdote I heard some time ago. It goes (to the best of my abuility) like this...

Two worms are sitting in a pile of shit.
The little worm asks the big one " Daddy why do we have to live in a pile of shit? Other worms are living in apples, flowers and other beautifull places, why do we have to be here?"
"Well son.." says the big worm "Because it's our homeland."

Now how does this relate to the topic... I will tell you :wise:

Originaly this was brought up on the topic of comunism but in this storry there is a wise moral

Its nice and warm in your cozy smelly little shit but you dont have to do anything but to get to the apple you really have to try and go through hell.

Now to round up my rant.

A lot of people are scared of living, improving their life suroundings and themselves. They are comfortible with their bland grey and posibly smelly exhistance and they never step foot outside of their doorstep.

The End

PS: Sorry about the curse words I'm sure the forum takes care of them automaticaly.

I am heights guy. I don't mess around when it comes to heights. I remember I went to the Grand Canyons, back on the Rez(Indian Reservation) with my Uncles and Aunts. We are all Native American (Navajo) so we do not have to pay like other tourists. If you go to the south rim I think and look through those binocular thingys, you can see my grandparents place from there. You would have to look, but anyways before I go on rambling I remember we went to this other location around Grand Canyon. You can hike down there, In this area. I looked down, and I was like screw that. To add to that the pathway was icy. My uncle was standing at the edge on this cliff. He is used to it; he is a construction worker. Here I go again rambling, sorry.:banghead: But, I am just one that is afraid of heights, don't know why though maybe just not use to it, anyways...Holla!:D
